Heat and Humidity Set to Move into the Region Next Week
Heat and humidity moving in this weekend bringing afternoon temps into the low 90s
Dry Skies and Building Heat This Weekend
For the first time in weeks we are enjoying a dry weekend from start to finish, and it couldn’t come at a better time. A strong ridge of high pressure is locking in across the eastern U.S., delivering plenty of sunshine and a big bump in temperatures. Highs Saturday topped out around 90°, with humidity on the rise, making it feel even warmer. Thanks to recent rain, the true heat potential may have been tamped down just a bit—but not for long.
Turning Hot and Humid Sunday and Beyond
Sunday brings more heat and increasing humidity, as highs creep back into the low 90s across the region. With dewpoints pushing into the mid to upper 70s, heat index values will flirt with the triple-digit mark—especially west of I-65. This kind of heat is no joke, especially considering it’s our first real hot stretch of 2025, so be smart if you’re spending time outdoors: hydrate, take breaks, and wear that sunscreen.
Hot Pattern Holds Strong Into Next Week
Looking into early next week, that ridge of high pressure isn’t going anywhere, keeping us mostly dry and locked in to a steamy, stagnant weather pattern. With drier ground and continued sunshine, we could start to see mid-90s in a few spots by Tuesday or Wednesday. Combined with high humidity, heat index values in the low 100s will be common. Overnight lows won’t offer much relief either, with many locations staying in the 70s, and some urban areas not falling below 80°.
Even under the ridge, a few isolated, pop-up thunderstorms could fire up during peak heating mid-to-late week, but most of us will remain dry. The main theme through the week? Heat and humidity, so pace yourself and make good use of the AC.
