Feeling like mid-August to end the week

Afternoon highs will climb back in the low to mid-90s the next few days

Thursday brought that classic mid-August feel to Central and Eastern Kentucky — warm, sticky, and just a touch unsettled. With a mix of clouds and sunshine, afternoon highs pushed into the upper 80s to near 90° right on par for this time of year. A weak front draped across the region sparked a few isolated storms and like we’ve seen lately, some of them packed a quick burst of heavy rain before fizzling out.

Friday: More Sun, Less Storm Action
By Friday, the fading front will wash out to our south, cutting back storm chances. While an isolated pop-up storm is still possible, most of us will be basking in sunshine. Temperatures will tick up a few degrees with afternoon highs in the low 90s for much of the area and upper 80s in the higher elevations. Humidity will stay elevated, making it feel more like the mid to upper 90s during the hottest part of the day.

Weekend Outlook: Sunshine & Summer Heat
High pressure takes control for the weekend, bringing us sunny skies and dry conditions — but also some of the hottest temperatures we’ve seen recently. Highs will climb into the low to mid-90s both Saturday and Sunday, and heat index values could occasionally push past 100°. If you’re planning to be outdoors, make sure to pace yourself, stay hydrated, and use plenty of sunscreen.

Looking Ahead: More Heat, Then a Break
The heat and mostly dry weather will hold into early next week, with highs again in the low to mid-90s Monday and Tuesday. A little instability Tuesday afternoon could fire off a stray storm, but most will stay dry. Relief looks to arrive midweek as another front pushes in, bringing a better shot at scattered storms and knocking highs back into the upper 80s.
