Former Lexington teacher pleads guilty to production, possession of child porn
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Former Lexington teacher Kevin Lentz pleaded guilty on Monday to the production and possession of child pornography.
Lentz admitted in his plea agreement that he began online conversations with a 9-year-old on March 19.
Within minutes, Lentz reportedly sent 85 sexually explicit videos and images to the child and convinced the child to send him photos and videos back. He admitted to knowing the victim was a minor.
On Aug. 8, a search warrant was executed at Lentz’s home where several electronic devices were seized. On them, officers say they found “several hundred” sexually explicit images of minors.
Lentz will be scheduled at a later date not yet determined.
He faces a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison for the production of child pornography and a maximum sentence of 20 years for possession of child pornography.
Lentz was placed on administrative leave from Henry Clay High School after his arrest.
He was listed as an English teacher at the high school.
The 9-year-old, who lives in New Hampshire, was listed as a stranger to Lentz in the arrest citation.
At his arraignment on Aug. 9, Lentz pleaded not guilty to local charges.
