With temps in the 90s, Lexington activates ‘extreme heat plan’
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – With temperatures expected to be unseasonably warm in the next few days, Lexington is activating its ‘extreme heat plan’ to help the homeless and those without shelter.
The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Division of Emergency Management has activated Phase 1 of the plan.
Under this phase, people in need of a ride to a shelter or shaded area may board LexTran buses at no charge.
Day shelters will provide shaded areas/cooling centers and assist with basic needs for those in need.
