What to know if you experience frostbite or hypothermia

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is warning residents about the dangers of frostbite and hypothermia as temperatures remain dangerously low.

Officials advise that if you must go outside, you should dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and limit your time outdoors to reduce the risk of cold-related illnesses.

The Transportation Cabinet also urges anyone experiencing signs of frostbite or hypothermia to immediately seek warm shelter and medical attention.
