Weather forces SEC Softball Tournament changes as Kentucky eyes first-round matchup

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Southeastern Conference softball postseason play begins this week at John Cropp Stadium, which is serving as the host site for this year’s SEC Softball Tournament. It will be the final time the event will be held on a campus site.

Kentucky Wildcats softball enters the tournament as the No. 15 seed and is set to face No. 10 seed Mississippi State Bulldogs softball in opening-round action Tuesday.

Due to inclement weather in the forecast, start times for Tuesday’s games have been moved up. Kentucky’s game will begin approximately 35 minutes after the conclusion of Game 1 between Auburn Tigers softball and Missouri Tigers softball, which is scheduled for an 11 a.m. first pitch.

The Wildcats enter the single-elimination tournament as the lowest-seeded team in the field after going 1-23 in conference play this season. Kentucky will look to reverse its fortunes and make a run in the postseason.
