UPDATE: Work To Resume On Kennedy Mill Bridge Project

Exploratory drilling work on the Kennedy Mill Bridge project was scheduled to begin Monday, September 29, 2014 and continue through Friday, November 7, 2014, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The bridge carries KY 152 over Herrington Lake at the Garrard-Mercer County line near Burgin.

The work was scheduled to determine the locations for the foundations of new bridge piers.

The drilling was scheduled to be performed from a barge that would be located near the existing bridge.

To anchor the barge, cables would be extended from the barge to 40-feet below the water surface near the shoreline.

All scheduled work was subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
