Update: Lexington Girl Pulled From Swimming Pool Dies
According to Jessamine County Coroner Michael Hughes, Adams was at the Nicholasville Aquatic Center with her family.
The family was apparently leaving the pool area around 2:00 p.m., when the girl’s mother said she heard the lifeguard’s blowing their whistles and jumping into the water to get her daughter out of the pool.
The mother told Coroner Hughes that her daughter couldn’t have been in the water for more than 45-seconds before being pulled out.
It was still unclear whether the girl accidentally fell in and drown or if she suffered some kind of medical emergency, according to Coroner Hughes.
Investigators hoped an autopsy at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort would provide some answers. The scheduled for Saturday still had inconclusive results.
Coroner Hughes said as soon as the girl was pulled out of the water, lifeguard’s began performing CPR and were assisted by two nurses who happened to be at the pool.
The coroner said the girl was rushed by ambulance to Saint Joseph Jessamine Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Coroner Hughes said there were not any obvious signs of trauma or injury to the girl.
The mother told the coroner that the girl was in good health.
