Unsettled weather possible much of this week
Look for several low-end rain chances in the coming days
After a weekend split between sunshine on Saturday and wet, stormy weather on Sunday, we kicked off the workweek on a dry and pleasant note. A brief ridge of high pressure allowed for sunshine and seasonably mild temperatures, with highs near 60 degrees—just a touch above average for this time of year. However, as we progress through the week, the weather pattern looks to turn more unsettled, with several opportunities for rain. Fortunately no single day appears to be a total washout.
Scattered Showers Midweek
With the upper-level flow coming out of the northwest, several weak disturbances will move through in the coming days. The first arrives on Tuesday, bringing scattered showers mainly in the morning before conditions settle later in the day. Despite the rain chances, temperatures remain seasonable, reaching the upper 50s.
Plan on keeping an umbrella handy through midweek, as additional waves of energy will pass through on Wednesday, bringing more scattered showers. Afternoon highs stay consistent, hovering in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. The good news? Thursday is shaping up to be drier, with some sunshine returning—certainly something to look forward to in this somewhat unsettled stretch.
Bigger System Possible by the Weekend
As we head toward the weekend, rain chances increase again on Friday, with scattered showers expected. However, attention then turns to a potentially more significant storm system moving into the Ohio Valley by Sunday. Right now, Saturday looks fairly quiet, with only a few scattered showers. Sunday could bring more active weather as a strong low-pressure system and cold front approach from the west. The Storm Prediction Center has already highlighted areas from the southern Great Lakes to the Gulf Coast as having an elevated risk for strong to severe storms. While it’s still several days away, this system will need to be closely monitored especially since it could impact weekend plans.
Stay tuned for updates as we track these changes in the days ahead!
