United Way of the Bluegrass hosts Super Saturday event

Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ) — Tax season is finally here and United Way of the Bluegrass is helping people do their taxes for free,

United Way hosted their second Super Saturday Free Tax Prep at the Lexington Senior Center.

The event began at 8 a.m.

People could come and get their taxes done as long as their income is $64,000 or below.

Today’s event had a bigger turnout and next year are hoping to do a third one in April.

All of the people helping out are actually volunteers.

“Our volunteers are the heart of the program,” said Gary Cremeans, Director of Community Impact. “They are IRS trained and certified. When you have your taxes done at any VITA sight or on any Super Saturday, you do sit down with one of our individual volunteers and walk through that entire process. And you leave with your taxes completed and hopefully you have a return that will be on way or heading into your bank account.”

You can call 211 to get an appointment to get your taxes done if you were not able to make it to the event.

The event wrapped up at 4 p.m.
