Traffic delays expected in Leslie Co. Monday
MANCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announces possible delays due to transporting extra-long concrete bridge I-beams to the ongoing bridge construction project on KY 80, near Wooten in Leslie County.
KYTC says traffic delays are expected on KY 80 from Hyden to Wooten when the extra-long, over-dimensional loads, travel along KY 80 from milepoints 0.00 to 6.00.
The beams are expected to be shipped for two days, beginning Monday, May 21, and ending on Tuesday, May 22. The beams are expected to arrive in Hyden at 9 a.m. each day, and traffic will be allowed to pass and clear out intermittently as suitable locations are encountered to safely allow passing. The beams will allow the contractor to construct a new concrete bridge for this project.
Work began on the project Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, and is scheduled for completion in November, 2018. Kay and Kay Contracting, LLC (London) is the prime contractor for the project. The total contract cost to replace the bridge over Cutshin Creek on KY 80 is $1,429,910.87.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks drivers to be aware of the work zone, expected long delays and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.
The date, time, and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
