As the Commonwealth braces for tomorrow’s winter storm, Governor Matt Bevin today urged motorists to restrict their travel and prepare for potential ice-related damage, service interruptions and impassable roadways.
Air travelers scrambled at Lexington's Blue Grass Airport on Thursday to try to get a flight out ahead of an approaching snowstorm. All major airlines are offering travel waivers to people who are booked to fly to the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic on Friday or Saturday.
Due to an approaching snowstorm, the Brad Paisley concert scheduled at the Corbin Arena on Saturday night has been postponed. Refunds will be available at the original point of purchase, according to concert promoter AEG Live.
All major airlines have issued waivers for travel over the weekend, allowing passengers to re-book onto earlier or later flights to avoid a major snowstorm expected to hit Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia all the way up the coast to New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
There will be no city garbage pickup in Lexington on Friday, March 6, 2015. Residents who normally have trash picked-up on Thursdays or Fridays, will have it collected on Saturday, March 7, weather permitting.
Because of the snowstorm, Lexington Post Offices will allow customers to request their mail be held at the delivery unit for pick-up. The three-day hold request minimum will be waived until Tuesday, March 10, 2015.
