Lexington's Pride Festival is Saturday and to celebrate Pride Month one nearby catholic church has put out a sign saying all, including those in the LGBTQ community are welcome and encouraged to join its parish.
United In Spirit is holding a free concert July 13 at Historic Saint Paul Catholic Church in Lexington to remember the victims of the mass shooting at a nightclub in Orlando and build a bridge in the Lexington community.
The attacks in Orlando and the possible threat to the LA Pride Parade are in the back of everyone's mind at Lexington's Pride Festival. But the energy at the festival, in downtown's courthouse plaza, is lively and for many they say their pride is even louder.
Josh Mers, the head of Lexington Fairness, says waking up to the news was heartbreaking. It's especially heartbreaking after gay days were just celebrated in Orlando and in the month of June when pride is celebrated throughout the nation.
