Snow Mold Possible This Year In Kentucky

Snow mold is not common in Kentucky, but can form after a winter of above-average snowfall.

If the region stays cold long enough, a fungus can grow between the grass and the snow, damaging or killing areas of grass.

The snow mold will be visible once the snow melts, giving the grass a white or creamy color in patches across the yard.

If you find snow mold growing in your yard, gently rake the areas affected by the mold to help the area dry.

As the grass thickens in spring, it should cover most of the damaged spots.
