Slightly cooler but still nice into the mid-week

A dry front will knock our temperatures back a few degrees on Wednesday with more dry weather on the way

After another cold start to Tuesday across Central and Eastern Kentucky it turned out to be a milder afternoon! With high pressure in control over the region, the combination of sunshine and a breezy southwest wind at 10 to 15 miles per hour pushed afternoon highs all the way into the low 50s. We should see our temperatures back off a bit into the mid-week but our quiet weather pattern will hang around.

A dry cold front will slide through the commonwealth during the early hours of Wednesday bringing a few clouds and a re-enforcing shot of cooler air on the heels of a northwest wind. As a result, afternoon highs will back down a few degrees into the upper 40s, which is right around average for this time of the year.

The tranquil weather will roll along to close out the week as another area of high pressure settles into the Ohio Valley. With a light south to southwest flow along with plenty of sunshine, afternoon highs should rebound a bit into the low-50s so it looks quite pleasant for mid-December.

We continue to watch for the possibility of a few showers later this weekend as an upper level system slides by to our south and southeast. Saturday looks dry with highs in the mid-50s as the models try to get a handle on just how far northwest the shield of rainfall will make it. At this point, expect a few scattered showers Sunday and into Monday with temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s.
