Shelter open in Lexington for storm victims with medical needs
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- A shelter is open in Fayette County for storm victims with medical needs.
People without electricity who have non-emergency medical needs can go to the Senior Center Sunday night.
“These are people who health is dependent upon electricity,” said Ken Armstrong, the City’s Commissioner of Public Safety, in a news release.
The shelter opened at 6 p.m. and will stay open all night.
The city chose to open the shelter after getting calls from people who needed help.
“We had enough demand that we felt we should have a place people could find help overnight,” Pat Dugger, Director of the Division of Emergency Management, said.
