Search on for accused cop killer

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ)- An off-duty Hopkinsville Police Officer was shot to death late Thursday afternoon after being pulled over by someone pretending to be a police officer, according to State Police.

Investigators are looking for 35-year-old James Decoursey, of Hopkinsville.

Police believe the officer, 38-year old Phillip Meacham, of Hopkinsville, was shot by Decoursey before the suspect stole a 1997 white Chevrolet pickup truck with Kentucky license plate number 2070GH.

Police say that if you see the truck or Decoursey, do not approach it or him and call 911 immediately. He is considered armed and dangerous.  Investigators say there is a chance Decoursey changed vehicles.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Kentucky State Police Post 2 at 270-676-3313.
