Scattered storm chances ramp up into the mid-week
It will continue to feel like mid-August with warm and humid weather
Tuesday brought that classic mid-August mix—clouds, sunshine, plenty of humidity, and a few afternoon pop-up storms. Thanks to a slow-moving front dipping into the Ohio Valley, storm coverage was a bit higher than in recent days, though they remained widely scattered. For spots that stayed dry, highs pushed into the low 90s, while others topped out in the upper 80s. This pattern looks to stick around into midweek.
Back-to-School Wednesday Brings Warmth and a Storm Chance
Fayette County students are back in class Wednesday, and while the morning should be dry for that first bell, it’s a good idea to pack the rain gear. The stalled front to our north will help fire off a few afternoon and early evening showers and storms. Any storm could produce locally heavy rain, which may lead to brief flooding in poor drainage areas. Even with clouds and rain in the mix, highs will still land in the upper 80s—right on par for mid-August.
Late Week Trend: Fewer Storms, More Heat
As we head toward the end of the week, that lingering front will slowly weaken, bringing fewer afternoon storms Thursday and Friday. With more sunshine, temperatures will tick upward—low 90s will be common by Friday. Humidity will remain noticeable, making it feel even warmer.
Weekend: Hot, Humid, and Mostly Dry
High pressure builds in for the weekend, bringing a mostly dry stretch—great news for outdoor plans, but the heat will be the big story. Highs will reach the low 90s, with some mid-90s possible. Humidity will push heat index values near or above 100 at times, so be sure to hydrate, take breaks in the shade, and wear sunscreen if you’re spending time outside. This hot, sticky weather looks to continue into early next week.
