Scam Warning in Franklin County
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Someone is calling people in Franklin County, claiming to be a sheriff’s deputy, telling them they missed a court date and will be arrested unless they pay a fine.
Investigators say the caller uses the name Deputy Stanley.
Don’t fall for it, it’s a scam, according to the real Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff says his department would never ask anyone to pay money to a deputy.
The sheriff’s office also doesn’t call people on the phone to tell people there’s a warrant out against them.
Court fines are paid to the Circuit Clerk’s Office.
Investigators say the scam call has been coming from 502-232-1575.
The sheriff reminds residents to never give money to a deputy or police officer to pay a fine.
