SCAM ALERT: KSP cites two phone scams in London area
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police in London are warning residents in the area to beware of two phone scams making the rounds.
First, Troopers say they are receiving reports of a caller identifying themselves as being with the Internal Revenue Service. The scammer will say that the recipient of the call owes money, and that legal action will be taken if it isn’t paid. State Police say the IRS will never contact individuals by phone. Also, officers advise never giving out personal information to someone you don’t know.
A second scam in the area has a scammer telling a call recipient that a family member has been arrested and that the recipient will have to pay money to get them out of jail. Once again, officers say not to fall for it.
If anyone receives any suspicious calls, Troopers ask to please contact the Kentucky State Police or your local law enforcement agency.
