Road Crews Making Good Progress in Frigid Cold
But that wasn’t the case yesterday. Road conditions started to go downhill yesterday afternoon when that morning rain turned to ice. That caused wet roads to become like ice skating rinks.
Lexington Police say they responded to over 30 accidents before 6 p.m. 20 of those accidents happened in just two hours.
Then overnight, snow caused even more problems, causing even more accidents.
In one accident, a car slid on slippery roads, lost control and hit a lightpole, knocking it down. Police say the driver wasn’t injured.
Lexington’s Division of Roads and Streets has been working throughout the night, making sure the roads are clear. They report that the interstates and most of the main arties have been cleared, but neighborhood roads and side streets are still very slippery.
