Richmond Police officer fights for his life at UK hospital

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – ABC 36 was told that Richmond Police Officer Daniel Ellis remains at University of Kentucky Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, Officer Ellis and another officer were investigating an armed robbery report at an apartment on Ballard Street when Ellis was shot.

Authorities say three suspects involved in the shooting, Raleigh Sizemore, Gregory Ratcliff and Rita Creech have been taken into custody.  According to the Madison County Detention Center, all three will appear in court on Wednesday.

ABC 36 was told, the accused shooter, Raleigh Sizemore has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer.

Neighbors in Richmond gathered in prayer Wednesday night in support of Ellis and other Richmond Police officers.

Another prayer vigil is scheduled Thursday at St. Mark Catholic Church in Richmond at 6 p.m.
