Preparing for Monday’s snow storm

Road crews prepare for a winter storm on Monday. Weather forecasters predict 6-12 inches for parts of Central Kentucky.

Lexington’s Mayor, Jim Gray says the city is prepared and ready for the winter storm.

"The message today is we are prepared," says Gray.

Gray says the city has plenty of salt; 5,000 tons.

Road crews started work at midnight, and will continue working on 12 hour shifts.

Gray also says there will be extra Police monitoring interstates and other major roadways.

But, his most important message to people is to stay off the roads.

"If you don’t have to, or absolutely need to be out driving, avoid it. The second sure thing to do is stay home," says Gray.
