Lexington Police Working Crowd Control On State Street

Lexington Police worked to control growing crowds of UK fans overnight after the Cats victory over Louisville in Indianapolis.

Thousands of people flooded State Street.

Firefighters had put out at least four couch fires by 1:45 a.m.

Fireworks were set off from rooftops.

Stop signs and other street signs were torn down.

Officers began pulling them away from the crowds.

There were several reports of people throwing beer bottles along University Avenue.

The Police Department anticipated the potential for unruly crowds.

It brought in extra patrol starting Friday morning.

Temporary parking restrictions were also set up for the weekend.
