Lexington police urging people to stay inside during cold weather

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Lexington Police Department is asking people to stay inside as officers work to keep everyone safe from the snow and cold.

According to police, the department is adjusting staffing levels. They say their specialized traffic equipment is ready to go.

Meanwhile, Lexington’s Police Chief Lawrence Weathers is asking everyone to stay home and avoid travel if possible.

“If possible, please stay home. “Walking in the snow and ice conditions can be hazardous as well,” Weathers said.

If you see someone who needs assistance, you can call the LPD’s non-emergency phone number at (859) 258-3600.
