Lexington high school teacher officially fired after guilty plea to child pornography

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — The Lexington high school English teacher who pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography last year has been officially fired, school board documents show.

The Fayette County Board of Education approved Kevin Lentz’s firing at the Jan. 22 meeting, however, the official firing date was effective on Nov. 7, 2023, one day after he pleaded guilty to his charges.

In August 2023, Lentz was arrested on seven counts of use of a minor in a sex performance (under 16), 10 counts of obscene matter to minors and six counts of tampering with physical evidence. He was placed on administrative leave at the time.

An arrest citation ABC 36 obtained on Aug. 9, 2023, detailed Lentz’s charges, where he sent a 9-year-old New Hampshire boy explicit images and then asked the child to delete those images so “his parents wouldn’t know.” He also sent the child explicit images we all.

The boy was listed as a stranger to Lentz.

On Nov. 6, 2023, Lentz pleaded guilty to the production and possession of child pornography.

Documents from the board meeting show Lentz was an English teacher at Henry Clay High School.

Lentz began working for the Fayette County Public School system in 2005.
