Lexington Craigslist scam turns into robbery

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Police have arrested Robert McGee for robbery following a Craigslist scam to trap the victim.

Police say a man went to a local motel to meet a woman he had talked to on Craigslist.

They say that’s when Robert McGee jumped out of the bathroom and threatened injury and murder, while he robbed the victim of cash and his cell phone.

The victim was able to leave and walk to a nearby gas station for help.
