KU still working to restore power
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky Utilities continues to try and restore power across Central Kentucky.
“It’s frustrating for the neighborhood, but we made the best of a bad situation,” said Sean Nealy. Nealy brought pizzas to the KU workers just down the street from his business in Lexington.
KU says they expect to have power restored to all homes by late Tuesday. All available line men and women are working 16 hour shifts with eight hour rest breaks. Other crews have come in from out of state.
“This storm was extremely bad. This was the worst storm we’ve had in Central Kentucky outage wise since the ice storm of 2003,” said Daniel Lowry with Kentucky Utilities.
According to KU, the storm in 2003 left about 115,000 homes without power. This storm left about 80,000 homes without power.
