KSP: Five Theft Attempts Made by Two Men in One Day

State Police are looking for two men who allegedly tried to steal money from five different convenience stores and gas stations.

On July 26, troopers were told about the theft attempts in Caroll and Owen Counties, as well as at a store located in Trimble.

They said in each instance, an anonymous person would call or enter the store and ask for information from the clerks about the store’s owner and/or managers.

Later on, an unknown person would reportedly call the store, posing as either the owner or a district manager. According to KSP, the caller claims an employee has been stealing money, and that the clerk needs to put all the cash from the store’s safes and registers into a money bag.

Troopers said the caller then instructs the clerk to hand the money to a person coming to the store or to take the cash to the parking lot, where someone will pick it up.

One of the men State Police are looking for is described as being in his mid-20s, standing around 5’10" with short, brown hair and a brown mustache and goatee, along with a tattoo on his right arm. He was captured on surveillance video wearing a red Cincinnati Reds baseball hat, a blue t-shirt, blue jean shorts, and red and white shoes.

The other suspect is said to be around 30 years old and roughly six feel tall. He’s described as having short black or dark brown hair with a brown goatee and mustache. He was caught on camera wearing a black t-shirt, black and gray camouflage shorts, a silver necklace, and black gym shoes.

According to KSP, witnesses have told them the men may have been driving a blue minivan, but weren’t sure of the make and model. They said a female with bright, pink hair was spotted was inside the vehicle.

At this point, troopers said no acts or threats of violence have been made.

Anyone who has seen these men or the minivan, or who encounters them, should call State Police at (502) 532-6363.
