Kentucky Gov.-elect Bevin names transition team
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – Republican Matt Bevin is turning to a pair of former rivals to help him as he transitions to become Kentucky’s next governor. Bevin named former Republican primary opponent Hal Heiner as one of 21 people on his transition team on Thursday. And Friday Bevin will meet with U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who crushed Bevin in the 2014 Senate primary.
Bevin announced Thursday that Brown-Forman Vice President J. McCauley “Mac” Brown will lead his transition team. Heiner is advising Bevin on transportation issues. Other members include former state Sen. Julie Denton of Louisville, former state Supreme Court Justice John Roach, state Reps. Jerry Miller of Louisville and Tom Kerr of Taylor Mill and Paducah businessman Billy Harper, a 2007 candidate for governor.
Bevin will be sworn in on Dec. 8.
