Gov. Bevin declares state of emergency due to storm damage

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – On Friday afternoon Governor Matt Bevin declared a statewide emergency, in response to the severe storms from earlier this week.

Communities throughout Kentucky were affected by this week severe storms, said Governor Bevin.

Officials say this official declaration gives our emergency management personnel the resources they need to proactively respond to local needs.

The Governors executive order protects the Commonwealths option to submit a formal FEMA declaration request during the 30-day period for documentation.

Kentucky Emergency Management has received preliminary notification of damages from more than three dozen counties, and officials are currently in the process of conducting formal damage assessments.
