Gov. Bevin announces two appointments to leadership posts

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – On Tuesday, Gov. Matt Bevin announced the appointment of two top Administration officials to permanent leadership posts.

Gail Russell was appointed Secretary of the Public Protection Cabinet (PPC) and David Dickerson was appointed Secretary of the Labor Cabinet.

Both Russell and Dickerson have served their respective cabinets as Acting Secretaries over the past several months.

“The Commonwealth is extremely blessed to have individuals with the character, competency and commitment of Gail Russell and David Dickerson serving in key leadership roles,” said Gov. Bevin.

Russell previously served as Deputy PPC Secretary and Small Business Ombudsman. She was a top-rated bankruptcy law and creditors rights attorney and served as a Special Justice on the Kentucky Supreme Court.

The Public Protection Cabinet oversees nine diverse regulatory and licensing agencies.

Dickerson formerly served as Secretary of the Public Protection Cabinet. He was a corporate officer in his family-owned lumber company, and also served a term as Barren County Judge/Executive.

The Labor Cabinet is responsible for coordinating and promoting positive working relationships between labor and industry, while enforcing state labor laws.
