Electrical issue causes power outages overnight in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – According to Kentucky Utilities, thousands of residents in Lexington lost power due to an issue with an electrical substation, but they say most of the power has been restored.

They say an estimated 1,500 customers lost power overnight due to electrical issues.

Kentucky Utilities says outages were reported on Mercer Road, Citation Boulevard,  Harbison Road, and North Forbes and Boiling Springs Drive.

According to Lexington Police, the power was completely out on Citation Boulevard.

Kentucky Utilities says technicians worked quickly throughout the night to fix those outages.

They say less than five customers were without power at 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

We’re still working to get more information as to which electrical substation caused these power outages.
