Dry and pleasant weather returns into the mid-week
Afternoon highs look nice the next few days into the mid to upper 70s
After a warm and pleasant Easter weekend featuring highs around 80°, Monday brought showers and a few thunderstorms as a cold front swept across Central and Eastern Kentucky. While the rain wasn’t overly intense, the boundary did deliver some gusty winds and mild temperatures thanks to a persistent southwest breeze with most locations topping out in the 60s where the rain and low clouds hung around the longest with a few low 70s by the end of the day out west.
Drying Out and Warming Up Through Midweek
Behind the front, high pressure is set to build in and take control of our weather pattern for Tuesday and Wednesday. Expect skies to clear out, allowing for plenty of sunshine and more comfortable conditions. Afternoon highs will hover in the mid to upper 70s across much of the area — ideal for getting outside. While a few stray showers or storms may try to sneak into southern Kentucky near the stalled boundary close to the Tennessee line, most locations will stay dry.
Another Beautiful Wednesday Before Storm Chances Return
The pleasant weather sticks around into Wednesday with mostly sunny skies and temperatures nudging into the upper 70s. Again, an isolated storm can’t be ruled out in far southern areas but the vast majority of us will enjoy another quiet and warm spring day.
More Rain and Storms Late Week into the Weekend
Thursday marks the return of unsettled weather as a warm front lifts northward into the region. Showers and storms become more likely, especially later in the day and into Thursday night. Then on Friday, a wave of low pressure tracks in from the west likely bringing multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms. With plenty of moisture and some weak instability in place locally heavy rainfall could be a concern.
Heading into Saturday a cold front pushes in from the west early in the day, possibly leading to a damp start. However, as the front slides eastward drier air filters in and should allow for some afternoon clearing. Temperatures may dip slightly but will still remain pleasant with highs around 70°. Sunday looks like the pick of the weekend — mostly sunny, dry, and highs in the low 70s.
