Disaster exercises to be held at Jacobson Park Wednesday
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Motorists who travel near Jacobson Park should expect to see some extra traffic along with plenty of public safety vehicles on Wednesday as Lexington’s Division of Emergency Management conducts a disaster exercise.
Jacobson Park will be closed to the public during the exercise, which will begin at about 8:30 a.m. and end by 2:00 p.m.
The exercise is part of a ten-county Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP) activity that will simulate an accident involving chemical agents stored at the Blue Grass Army Depot.
“While we conduct trainings and smaller exercises throughout the year, this annual exercise gives all of the parties involved in CSEPP a chance to work together and test the various response actions that would be used if there was an actual emergency of this kind,” said Patricia Dugger, Director of Lexington’s Division of Emergency Management. “We will have more than one hundred Lexington public safety staff involved in this exercise as well as members of social service and health care agencies.”
