Delayed construction in Mercer County reschedule for end of week

MERCER COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Construction and lane closures originally scheduled for early this week in Mercer County have been moved to the latter portion of the week.

According to the transportation cabinet, milling and paving were supposed to happen Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on US 68, also known as Lexington Road near the Mercer and Jessamine County lines. Now, they say, that has been moved to Thursday and Friday.

The road will be open to traffic but drivers can expect delays, according to the cabinet, as paving operations will be in effect between mile points 17.5 and 20.0. They say flaggers will be on the roadway to assist drivers during the work which will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

The cabinet has put an alternate route in place for those traveling to Harrodsburg. You can take Versailles road to the Bluegrass Parkway to US 127. As always, work is subject to change.
