Breezy and wet rolling into Tuesday

An area of low pressure spinning through the region will provide more beneficial rain across the area

We kicked off Thanksgiving week on a cloudy note across the board with a few spots across Central and Northern Kentucky seeing some scattered rain. which was very beneficial given the on-going drought across the area. With a strong low pressure system spinning in from the southwest into Tuesday, more rain and wind will be on the way! Before the rain arrived, we did see a pretty sunrise as a few of the clouds around made for a fiery sunrise.

Expect a wet start to Tuesday across Central and Eastern Kentucky so allow some extra time for the morning commute with some heavier downpours possible. Some of the data is kicking out over 1″ rainfall totals, which would be just what the doctor ordered given how dry it has been of late. The other part of the system is the wind. We could see gusts 30-35 miles per hour plus during the early morning hours Tuesday so the showers will be blow around easily and it won’t be much fun to be out and about. We should see the rain taper off into the afternoon with highs topping out into the low 60s.

Conditions should slowly improve just in time for the big travel day on Wednesday, There should be an issues for travel unless you are heading toward the Northeast where it looks wet and breezy. It will be cooler on Wednesday with afternoon highs only in the mid to upper 40s. High pressure will build in from the west just in time for Thanksgiving Day so it should be a fairly nice holiday. After a chilly start, afternoon highs should work back into the mid-50s. Some clouds may increase for Black Friday and into the weekend holding temperatures down a bit into the low 50s but for now it appears any rain chances will remain to our south.
