Berea Police: Counterfeit Bills Spike at Local Businesses

Berea Police are warning business owners after counterfeit money has popped up in at least six different places.

Police said officers are seeing more of these counterfeit cases in a short amount of time.

Investigators said the fakes include all denominations at businesses that might be too busy to double check that the money is real.

Officers said not that they know these bills are out there, they want everyone to keep an eye out and be extra cautious.

“Use those counterfeit markers, look at the bill, when you see it on closer inspection some of these bills you can actually tell were counterfeit once you really got to looking  at it and feeling it,” said Sgt. Jake Reed with the Berea Police Department.
Officers said they are looking through surveillance video but so far no arrests have been made.
