Avoiding Impulse Buying on Cyber Monday- Dr. James Stillwell

One of the busiest shopping days of the year is  primarily done online. Licensed pastoral counselor Dr. James Dr. James Stillwell has some tips for us to keep us from impulse buying on Cyber Monday, which can lead to financial disaster thus destroying our personal relationships.

Saving money is great if we keep in mind the dangers of overspending.

Saving is just an idea if you don’t have the money.

Here are some tips:

1) Gift-giving leaves each of us with a wonderful emotional feeling.

Know your budget as you prepare your gift list.

2) Think about needs more than wants.

3) Use a credit card rather than a debit card for safety.

4) Openly discuss significant purchases beforehand with your family.

Don’t try to “out-buy” each other!

5) Shop sober.

If you stick to these guidelines, your Cyber Monday will not only be more productive, but your holidays and post-shopping relationships will be more “merry and bright.”
