LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Happy Friday! It was a busy overnight with strong showers and thunderstorms racing through central and eastern Kentucky. The good news is that our severe weather threat is over for your Friday morning. Lingering showers and a few storms will be possible through the rest of the day, with most of the rain and storms remaining south and east of the Lexington metro. Temperatures take a bit of a hit on Friday as well. Lexington hit 80 degrees yesterday, but we will stay in the low-to-mid 60s today.
A cold front passes during the day on Friday and we will drop temperatures into the upper 30s and low 40s by Saturday morning. However, Saturday’s forecast has really improved. After a chilly start to the day, afternoon temperatures will climb into the low 60s.
A secondary cold front sweeps through on your St. Patrick’s Day. This will bring breezy conditions and cooler temperatures. The brunt of the colder air won’t arrive until Monday. Temperatures on Monday will struggle to get out of the low 40s! This colder air could be accompanied by a few snow flakes as well, with the best chance being Monday afternoon and evening.
