Accidents close NB I-75 in Madison County

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say three accidents led to the shutdown of all northbound lanes of I-75 between mile markers 82-and-83 in Madison County Tuesday afternoon.

The interstate closure led to an immediate traffic backup that stretched for miles.

All northbound lanes finally reopened early Tuesday evening.

Investigators say the initial crash involved an 18-wheeler and a car and they think the wet road was a factor. There were two secondary wrecks that followed, according to KSP.

Troopers say one of the cars flipped upside down in some water.

State Police say no one was seriously hurt, but one family was taken to an area hospital to be checked out.
