A nice stretch of weather on the way into the mid-week

It was a beautiful start to the week here in Central and Eastern Kentucky with plenty of sunshine and very comfortable highs for mid-November topping out into the low and mid-60s. This was a nice recovery after most locations started out quite cold into the low-30s. The tranquil stretch of weather will continue into the mid-week with more November sunshine on the way the next few days.

The only speed bump of any sort over the next few days will be a slight decrease in our temperatures on Tuesday thanks to a weak boundary dropping through the Ohio Valley. With no moisture associated with the front, it shouldn’t have any impact on our weather other than knocking afternoon highs on Tuesday down a few degrees with most spots topping out either side of the 60 degree mark, about 5 degrees cooler than what we enjoyed on Monday.

High pressure will continue to dominate our weather here in the Ohio Valley through the mid-week as it drifts just to our east over the Mid-Atlantic. This will allow winds to shift to the southeast and eventually turn to the south by Thursday pushing temperatures into the mid to upper 60s for afternoon highs. This is nearly 10 degrees above average for this time in November so enjoy.

We are still under a Moderate Drought across 40% of the commonwealth (including much of Central and Eastern Kentucky) in addition to the on-going forest fire situation in the southeast mountains. Our one legitimate shot of rain will be on Friday as a cold front slides through the region so it looks a little wet to end the week. Some of the data is showing a half inch of rain or more, especially in the mountains, which would be very beneficial. It should dry out with cooler highs in the 50s this weekend.
