A few clouds but a nice November weekend on the way

A weak front should get close enough to produce some scattered clouds but temperatures will remain comfortable

It was a beautiful finish to the week across Central and Eastern Kentucky on Friday with plenty of sunshine as high pressure continued to dominate the area. With a breezy south wind helping things along, afternoon highs surged into the low to mid-60s which is right around average for the early part of November. Out fall colors are really beginning to hit their peak so it should be a nice weekend to enjoy the beauty of the season while it lasts.

Fall Foliage

Heading into Saturday the tranquil and comfortable weather pattern will stick around with a few minor changes. High pressure will settle south into the Carolinas allowing a weak frontal boundary to drop into the Ohio Valley as an area of low pressure slides by to our north. The front should be close enough where we’ll see a few clouds around over the weekend with the best chances for a sprinkle or two coming during the early hours of Sunday. Afternoon highs still look good with highs topping out into the mid-60s Saturday. Don’t forget that Standard Time returns at 2am on Sunday so it’s time to “fall back” as we set the clocks back 1 hour before bedtime Saturday night.

The second half of the weekend and into early next week is looking good as unseasonably mild air streams into the area. With a frontal boundary just to our north  and a strong southwest flow, afternoon highs should run toward the 70 degree mark on Monday and beyond. Of course it will be breezy with winds occasionally gusting 25 to 30 miles per hour through the middle part of next week including Election Day.

While it doesn’t look like a wash-out on Election Day or Wednesday, the frontal boundary will stay camped through the central part of the Ohio Valley so a few scattered showers will be possible from time to time. It looks mild with highs into the low 70s so that should be a nice bonus. Eventually the front will push through on Thursday bringing our best chance of organized rainfall along with cooler air late in the week. Afternoon highs may drop into the low 50s for highs by next Friday. Have a great weekend.
