A break from the active weather pattern is on the way

We should see several dry days ahead with slowly moderating temperatures

The last round of this week’s wintry weather finally wrapped up on Thursday, but not before leaving behind an additional half-inch to an inch of snow in many spots. While this wasn’t a major accumulation, it was just enough to slick up roadways for the morning commute, adding another layer of travel headaches. The combination of bitter cold and brisk northwest winds made things even more miserable, with wind chills dipping below zero during the early hours of the day. Even with some sunshine peeking through in the afternoon, temperatures only managed to reach the low to mid-20s, keeping everything frozen in place.

Frigid Start to Friday – A Much-Needed Break in the Action

With clearing skies, lighter winds, and fresh snowpack, temperatures will plunge into the single digits early Friday morning. Some sheltered valleys may even slip a bit below zero before sunrise. If you’re heading out early, you’ll need plenty of layers to battle the bitter cold.

The good news? High pressure will build in from the west, bringing a welcome return of sunshine. While it’ll still be chilly, afternoon highs will rebound into the upper 20s, which is at least a step in the right direction.

Weekend Warm-Up Begins

After this brutal cold stretch, the weekend will feel much better. Dry weather dominates both Saturday and Sunday, which is especially good news for those cleaning up from recent flooding. While a weak system may throw a few extra clouds our way on Saturday, it will remain dry, and temperatures will finally climb above freezing, topping out in the mid to upper 30s.

By Sunday, the warm-up continues, with highs pushing into the low 40s. If you’ve been waiting for a good time to wash the salt off your car, this weekend should provide the perfect window.

Early Next Week – Spring Tease Incoming!

Next week will bring a much-needed taste of spring as the deep freeze loosens its grip. Monday looks fantastic, with mostly sunny skies and highs surging into the low 50s—easily the nicest day we’ve had in a while.

Tg Temp Trend

A weak system may bring a couple of showers on Tuesday, but impacts look minor, and much of the day should stay dry. Despite the slight rain chance, temperatures will continue warming, with highs reaching the mid-50s.

Looking ahead to midweek, a better chance for rain arrives late Wednesday into Thursday, but with temperatures staying well above freezing, this will be all rain, no snow.
