Avery Pope joins Kentucky women’s tennis

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team has added Avery Pope, Mark Pope’s daughter, to its roster for the 2026-27 season.

Pope joins Kentucky after spending her first three seasons at Brigham Young University. She will have one year of eligibility remaining.

The Provo native last competed during the 2023-24 season before taking time away from tennis to serve a mission in El Salvador.

“We are very excited for Avery to join our Kentucky women’s tennis family,” head coach Shelley Jaudon said in a statement Friday.

During the 2023-24 season, Pope posted a 6-10 singles record and went 9-4 in doubles play.

Before college, Pope was a three-time Utah Team State champion from 2018-20. She was also ranked No. 3 in Utah and No. 10 in the Mountain Region as a recruit.
