Winchester native Jerone Morton transfers to Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW)  – Kentucky men’s basketball added another piece to its roster Wednesday, a day after landing forward Justin McBride from James Madison.

Washington State guard Jerone Morton announced he is transferring to Kentucky, giving the Wildcats an experienced backcourt option, and a familiar face.

Morton, a native of Winchester, Kentucky, played for George Rogers Clark High School, where he led the team to a state championship in 2022 and was named tournament MVP.

After graduating, Morton spent two seasons at Morehead State before transferring to Washington State for his junior year. Last season, he averaged 7.8 points, 2.6 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game.

Morton has one year of eligibility remaining.
