Jayden Quaintance on “full shutdown”
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky men’s basketball coach Mark Pope said Thursday that Jayden Quaintance is on a “full shutdown” with no on-court activity.
The sophomore forward tore his ACL in February 2025 while at Arizona State. Quaintance appeared in four games for the Wildcats this season but has not played since Jan. 7 against Missouri because of swelling in his surgically repaired knee.
Pope said the program is working closely with its performance team as Quaintance continues his recovery.
“We’re doing everything we can with the performance team,” said Pope. “One of the things in the immediate moment challenge is that every day he misses, he loses some of the strength that they have worked so hard to develop, the knee protective strength. It’s a little bit of a complicated bag. I know his health long-term is going to be excellent. It’s just in the immediate future we’re trying to figure that out.”
