UK hires Colby Smith as next running back coach

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The Kentucky football team made another staff hire official earlier Tuesday afternoon, announcing the addition of Colby Smith as its new running backs coach.

Smith, who had a four-year NFL playing career, has worked as a college or NFL coach since 2012.

He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Arkansas and has since served as a running backs coach or offensive assistant at several other stops.

Those stops include Western Kentucky, Louisville (his alma mater), Rutgers, and Arkansas at the collegiate level. He also spent time as an offensive coach with the Miami Dolphins from 2020 to 2023.
