Kentucky OC Joe Sloan held introductory press conference on Wednesday
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky’s new offensive coordinator, Joe Sloan, held his introductory press conference Tuesday. Here are some of the highlights.
Sloan was asked whether Kentucky can enter the national title race if Indiana can:
“Absolutely. We are coming here to compete for championships. I know what this program can do. I’ve seen this program. I’ve been in this league, and I know what Coach Stein can do. The combination of the two — I couldn’t be more fired up.”
Sloan also discussed the type of offense he plans to implement:
“Obviously, the nuts and bolts of who we are going to be will be based off Coach Stein’s offense at Oregon. I think there are a lot of similarities, specifically in the passing game, and I think we will blend that. Ultimately, it’s not going to be Oregon’s offense or LSU’s offense — it’s going to be Kentucky’s offense. We’re going to have other smart people in the room, and we’re going to build a foundation of what we want to do. I think we have a lot of good players we can build it around, and we’ll add some.”
Sloan also spoke about his conversations with quarterback Cutter Boley:
“They’ve been awesome. We’ve been around each other every day, and I’m excited to work with him. I loved what he did at the end of the year, and I think he’s got a great future ahead of him. I recruited him when he was in high school, so we’ve had a long-standing relationship. It’s been great.”
