Kentucky selected as No. 2 overall seed in NCAA Tournament; hosting Wofford in first round

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The Kentucky volleyball team will enter the 2025 NCAA tournament as the No. 2 overall seed after a 25‑2 season that included the Wildcats’ ninth consecutive SEC regular-season title and an SEC tournament championship. Kentucky joins Nebraska, Texas and Pitt as the other No. 1 seeds.

Kentucky will face the Wofford Terriers, who finished 17‑13, on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET at Historic Memorial Coliseum. The Wildcats will host their first-round match, giving them home-court advantage in their quadrant of the bracket. As the top seed in their section, they could continue playing at home through the regional semifinals, the volleyball equivalent of the Elite Eight in basketball.

The Lexington Regional opens Thursday with eighth-seeded UCLA playing Georgia Tech at 4:30 p.m. ET, followed by Kentucky vs. Wofford at 7 p.m. The winners of the first-round matches will meet Friday at 7 p.m. ET. All first- and second-round matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
